Michael Borlaug’s Speaking Engagements

Capstone IT was the breakfast sponsor at the 19th Circuit Bench Bar Conference put on by Florida Rural Legal Services. He distributed his new co-authored book The Definitive Guide to Cybersecurity and Compliance for Law Firms. As an expert in cybersecurity, Mike spoke about cyber insurance, shadow IT and cloud computing ethics so that attendees could get their CLE credits in technology.

Capstone IT and the St. Lucie County EDC's Virtual Business Recovery Center hosted a webinar at 8th Avenue Studios on Thursday, June 11th, 2020. The topic was: Remote Tools for Businesses. Pax 8 also did a Microsoft Teams demonstration. Michael discussed cloud solutions and Microsoft tools that South Florida Businesses can use in this remote work environment.

Taylor Hoskins of Hoskins, Turco, Lloyd and Lloyd and the St Lucie County Bar Association asked Mike to speak at 2nd Street Bistro in Fort Pierce on Friday, February 7th, 2020. The topic was: Cyber Security Tips for Businesses and Employee Security Training. We enjoyed visiting with Bar Association Members. Attendees were able to earn Continuing Legal Education Credit.

On Tuesday, January 7th, 2020, Mike was asked to speak at the Kiwanis Club of Martin County at Southern Pig and Cattle in Stuart. The topic was: Cyber Security Tips for Businesses. The highlight of the event was the Q&A portion of the presentation, where we spoke about best practices for password creation and use. This Kiwanis meeting was an opportunity for us at Capstone IT to learn about another Martin County Organization and how they serve the community.

On Friday, November 15th, 2019, Mike was asked to speak at the Leadership Martin County Alumni Lunch at the Stuart Corinthian Yacht Club. The topic was: There’s an App for That! Apps for Business Problems for your Mobile Phone. The highlight of the event was the Q&A portion of the presentation, where there was a great conversation about cyber-security, passwords, and apps that track your location. Mike gave some final thoughts that left attendees with applicable advice on how to use your mobile phones to do business.

On Thursday, October 24th, 2019, Michael was invited to present to the Stuart Sunrise Rotary Club at the Monarch Country Club in Palm City on cyber-security. With several attendees who were business owners they found that employee training and awareness about cyber security was a top priority.

On Wednesday, October 16th, 2019, Michael had the pleasure of addressing the Port Saint Lucie Bar Association at their lunch gathering at Carrabba’s, St Lucie West. PSL Bar Association President, Donna DiMarchi, had this to say about the presentation, along with a five-star Google review: “Mike Borlaug recently gave a presentation to the Port St. Lucie Bar Association regarding cyber security which applied to all aspects of our members lives, both professionally and personally. He offered some excellent immediately actionable tips to more towards a more secure computer environment. Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants invited Mike to speak at their dinner gathering at Manero’s in Palm City on Wednesday, September 18th, 2019. The topic was Cyber Security in Business and at Home. We discussed over the meal how many CPA firms have been attacked by hackers recently and how many layers of security, employee training, and mindful usage can keep client data safe.

On Tuesday, September 17th 2019, Michael spoke at to a small group of Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants Lunch at The Patio Seafood Tavern in Vero Beach. A couple of attendees shared that in the day-to-day business matters they deal with, cyber security is not always a priority. This presentation highlighted best practices for protecting your business and your personal data.

Martin County Bar Association asked Michael to speak on Friday, April 19th, 2019 at their luncheon The Kane Center in Stuart on how to protect your law firm from cyber criminals. Martin County judges and lawyers learned about changing passwords, choosing complex passwords and not using the same password for each account.

The Biz to Biz Expo was a networking event on Monday, March 18th, 2019 at the Hilton Palm Beach Airport ballroom where Mike also got the opportunity to take the stage and speak to the crowd about cyber security. He presented on how to spot phishing emails and how to secure your client data.

On Friday, October 26th, 2018, Capstone IT was the lunch sponsor for the 19th Circuit Judicial Bench Bar Conference at the Port St. Lucie Civic Center. Over 200 judges and lawyers attended to hear the presentation on Cyber Security in Business and at Home.
